When I was a kid, one of my best friends was Hawaiian and her dad had one of Rap’s albums. I’ll always love him for turning me on to Rap’s comedy, and for breaking down da pidgin to me since I’m Mexican and had no idea what lau lau or a kanaka is. Learning a little pidgin came in real handy when I moved to Oahu in my 20s! I’d never seen the Auntie Marialani bit before – LOVE IT!!

My family and I lived in Hawai’i 27 years ago… and we STILL say “850 degrees for one minute, or five degrees for four days”!
